Best of the week – August 23 edition
August 25, 2008
Here’s a weekly wrap-up if the things I’m digging this week:
Garfield minus Garfield You have no idea how poignant the comic strip Garfield can be until you remove Garfield. Who knew the pathos of Jon would be so compelling when he’s by himself, in an empty frame, talking to no one. The best part about this whole site? Jon Davis actually thinks it’s cool.
Lisa Dickinson’s Gettin By Blog post about a crazy Marketing Director I swear, I was NOT like this guy when I was a Marketing Director. I promise- I love white space! Lisa is so funny – I’m so proud she’s one of my bestest friends. I’m praying she someday let’s me read the emails back and forth between her and the douchebag….
Flight of the Conchords Yea, I’m jumping on the bandwagon – Riely and I bought this DVD back in July and could not stop laughing. But what made it better this week is finding out that none other Neil Finn guested on a BBC Radio version of the series. And Jemaine Clement just got hitched, so here’s a shout-out to the funniest guy…in the room.
Maraget Cho’s iTunes Playlist While I’ve always liked the Gay Icon Comic, I had no idea she loved Crowded House so much. She even has a blog post about them here, telling of her undying devotion to the band. Someday, I should go all meta and post a blog about how much I love her loving Crowded House. Wait, I think I just did.
Lucy’s Table in Portland. What a lovely little restaurant in the NW district of PDX. I got to eat Bodacious Corn there. It’s a funky sweet corn. Highly recommended.
Enjoy the week!
